Prior to taking a short vacation I noticed myself becoming irritable negative and impatient with others and perhaps not even giving a hundred percent all the tasks that I had before me at work and at home.
After a few days into my vacation I realized that I had a new positive energy about me, that my mind and my body were recharged and as I let myself spend time with God, undistracted and in prayer and meditation, my soul was just renewed and refreshed as well.
Jesus says if we come to Him, all who are weary, He will give us rest.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 NIV
Jesus exemplifies this the best. After many long days of ministry he would retreat and spend the time he needed with his heavenly father in order to remain spiritually strong. He had to do this on a regular basis.
I think that’s an excellent example for us to follow. If we are to be the women God created us to be, and do the things he’s called us to do, and even to resist sin and temptation in our lives, it’s important that we find rest.
So rest isn’t something we need to feel guilty about. It’s a necessity in our lives and it’s a great gift that God has given to each one of us.
I think we need to take that advice and we need to get some rest so we can experience the life in the fullness that God has called us to do and be.
I hope you have a great day!
