Well Christian Woman was created to be a safe place where women can grow and learn together what it means to be truly well. You can find out more about why we started Well Christian Woman HERE.
Kimberly Trites was a wife, mother, Obstetrician/Gynecologist, and most importantly, a follower of Jesus.
The idea for Well Christian Woman started percolating in the spring of 2015, when Kimberly and her husband, Rod, both felt called to do something more active with their faith. Around the same time she was also feeling strongly led to spend more time with her family.
She closed her busy medical practice and “went on the road” traveling with her family to cover on-call OBGYN in small hospitals in Eastern Canada. This gave her a lot more time to spend with her husband and kids and start working on creating a space where Christian women could explore together what it means to be well.
In January 2016, Kimberly was diagnosed with very aggressive stage 4 metastatic colon cancer. Medically, this was a terminal diagnosis with a realistic estimate of a few months to a year to live. God gave her a little over a year and a half with her family, but despite many prayers by many people for healing, God decided to take Kimberly to her true home on August 20, 2017.
Kimberly touched many people in her life in profound ways, and she will always be missed, but as her five year old little girl said on that day, “Now Mommy won’t have to be sick anymore.” We are assured that she is now happy and healthy and as we follow Jesus, we are looking forward to reuniting with her one day.
Kimberly had been learning and sharing about what it means to be truly well and what is truly important in this life. She and her husband decided that God’s call to step out and do something more for Him hadn’t changed with her diagnosis, so Well Christian Woman was born soon after her diagnosis, with a focus on the true spiritual wellness that comes from drawing closer to Jesus.
After she passed on, her friends knew she wouldn’t want Well Christian Woman to pass on with her, so together we will continue to explore what it means to be truly well, and we hope you will join us!
